Fairyloot March 2022 unboxing – Threads of fate

This unboxing contains spoilers!

Theme of the box

Description by Fairyloot

We are so excited to reveal the March theme for our Young Adult monthly box and it is… THREADS OF FATE!

If your life was predestined, how far would you go to change it? This box is dedicated to characters who fight against destiny and take control of their own fate.

You can expect items inspired by Circe, The Raven Boys, Raybearer and our featured book of the month. We are thrilled to reveal that there will be a deck of foiled playing cards inspired by Six Crimson Cranes, Daughter of the Moon Goddess, Jade Fire Gold and Only A Monster with artwork by @naiivu.

Our featured book of the month is a retelling of the classic Korean folktale of Shim Cheong! We absolutely loved this enchanting and lyrical story and we think you will too. This FairyLoot exclusive edition will have an EXCLUSIVE COVER, TWO COLOURED STENCIL SPRAYED EDGES, ARTWORK ON THE ENDPAPERS by @naiivu, FOIL EMBOSSING ON THE HARDCOVER by @naiivu, is SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR and as usual will come with a letter from the author. We can’t wait for you to see this stunning edition!

Item 1 & 2

This It’s high time we revisit an old favourite – a wooden bookmark! This one is inspired by Circe by Madeline Miller.

This sticker set inspired by The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater is perfect for adding a bookish touch to your laptop, water bottle, phone, or notebook.

The bookmark is beautiful AND really sturdy. I may not have read the book but it’s a keeper for me! I’m not that enthusiastic about the sticker sheet because I ended up not liking the Raven cycle but I’m sure that many people will like this item.

Item 3

The cushion cover inspired by Raybearer by Jordan Ifueko features one of the most inspiring quotes from the book and it will make a great addition to your home decor.

The cushion cover is very colourful but not really my style. The quote says “Only one thing is more powerful than a wish and that is a purpose”.

Item 4

This beautiful pastel tea tin is inspired by our featured book of the month, which is waiting for you at the bottom of this box.

It’s a really gorgeous tin but they’re really starting to do these a lot. I have too many of these to be honest. The quote on the tin says “Don’t chase fate. Let fate chase you”. On the lid it says “Wait for me where the land meets the sea”.

Item 5

The card deck features character artwork from four stories. The artwork on the Diamonds suit is from Six Crimson Cranes by Eliz abeth Lim, Spades are from Jade Fire Gold by June CL Tan, Clubs are from Only a Monster by Vanessa Len, and the Hearts suit is from Daughter of the Moon Goddess by Sue Lynn Tan.

These cards are so freaking pretty! They’re definitely my favourite item of this box.

Item 6

This is the beginning of our new collectible celestial tarot deck! The cards are illustrated by the amazing @arz28 and feature Xingyin as The Fool and Wenzhi as The Magician, both from Daughter of the Moon Goddess by Sue Lynn Tan

Very pretty cards but I’m definitely NOT collecting this set. It took like 3 years to collect the previous deck.

Our featured book of the month is The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea by Axie Oh, a retelling of the classic Korean folktale of Shim Cheong! We absolutely loved this enchanting and lyrical story and we think you will too. This FairyLoot exclusive edition has an exclusive cover, two coloured stencil sprayed edges, artwork on the endpapers, foil embossing on the hardcover by @naiivu and is signed by the author. Don’t forget to read the author letter and check out the character art by @naiivu on the other side too! Happy reading!

Oooh this book looks and sounds good! I’ve read Xoxo not too long ago from Axie Oh and really liked her writing style. It was easy to read for me so I’m sure that will be the same with this book. Fairyloot gave us a gorgeous edition.

Honestly item wise this box was very ehhhh for me. They’re starting to repeat their items. I have plenty of tons from past boxes. The stickers aren’t really my thing either and the pillow cushion is just not my style. I do love the woodmark, which is gorgeous and sturdy, and the playing cards which stole the show for me. The book is also really stunning and makes me curious. Overall I’m not blown away by this box and I hope that I can switch to book only very soon. The items just no longer do it for me.
